The Wells College Transportation Department is dedicated to enriching the student experience outside of the main campus.  Whether it is transporting students to off campus classes, internships, bus stations and airports or immersing them in the fun activities that the Finger Lakes has to offer, we strive to provide these services in a timely and safe manner.  Below are the services that we currently provide.

Unless noted, we need 7 business days minimum for requests. This doesn't apply to daily Ithaca runs.

The Transportation Office can not schedule same day appointments

Requests are processed during business hours Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Requests and emails received after hours and on weekends will be processed the next business day.

We do not transport students to and from a job for which they are paid.

If you have or cannot find the answers to your questions on the Globe please email, transportation@wells.edu.

Daily Ithaca Shuttle

This is a daily service that brings students to the Ithaca area for various amenities and entertainment.  Students interested in wanting to participate sign up in Campus Safety.  In the entryway there is a log book that highlights the times and locations that this service will be active.  Students must fill out when they wish to leave Wells and when they wish to return.  Students that do not sign up for a return time and plan on staying in Ithaca overnight must annotate that on the form.

Daily Schedule to Ithaca:

Monday and Tuesday: No Daily Run

Wednesday and Thursday: leaving campus at 3pm, 5pm and 7 pm.

Friday and Saturday: leaving campus at 1pm, 3pm, 5pm and 7 pm.

Sundays: leaving campus at 1pm and 3 pm.

Vehicle Options

Wells College Transportation Department has a variety of vehicles available for rental by faculty/staff and students. Currently we have 3 options:

  • 10 person vans (plus driver)
  • 7 person mini-van (plus driver)
  • 3 person sedan (plus driver)

The first priorities for the vehicle use are daily Ithaca/Auburn runs and reservations made for College sponsored events. After those, Transportation offers campus departments and student clubs and organizations the opportunity to reserve vehicles for off-campus excursions sponsored through a class, a College-sponsored student activity, or a Wells College Athletic team event.

The driver certification process is a qualifier for reserving or driving any Wells College vehicle through the Transportation department. Employees and students wishing to be certified must complete our Driver Certification Application. Once this is completed, the Transportation Supervisor will contact applicants and set up a time for training. Those wishing to be certified should anticipate a 14-day period to complete the application review, DMV check (see below for specifics), written test, and schedule and complete the driving test. Applicants will have the option to apply for certification to operate the following vehicle types: sedan, minivan or full-size van.

All applicants must have a valid US driver’s license. If applicant has an out of state driver license, they will need to request a copy of their driver's abstract from their home state DMV office. A copy of the abstract should be submitted along with the Student Driver Certification Application.

The driver certification is valid for one calendar year. Each driver is responsible for contacting the Transportation Office with updated information related to their driving record during that period. The driver certification privileges may be revoked if the driver fails to report updates to their record during the certification period, has 3 or more moving violations/preventable accidents in the last 3 years or 2 or more moving violations/preventable accidents in the last 1 year.

The Transportation Department reserves the right to revoke driving privileges at the discretion of the Transportation Supervisor with final appeal of such decision to the Director for Campus Security.
