Medical Care and Mental Health / Personal Counseling

Medical Care: Routine health care at the Community Medical Center is covered by most health insurance plans, with the College paying any outstanding co-pays or deductibles to ensure students receive care at no additional cost. The College does not cover co-pays or deductibles for outside laboratory tests, x-rays, consultations, or surgery. Please consult wit Medical Center staff regarding covered services.

Counseling: Professional counseling services are available by appointment at the Community Medical Center. Please visit our resource page for more information.

When a student requires extended psychiatric care throughout the year, the student and her or his parent and/or guardian are responsible for making appropriate arrangements for the coordination of care provided outside the Medical Center with care provided at the Medical Center.  If a student's concerns need consultation outside of the Medical Center the staff at the Center can make an outside referral.

Medical Center Appointments

To set up an appointment at the Medical Center please call (315) 364-3388.

The Medical Center now offers virtual visits!

All visits are by appointment, unless of course there is an emergency. When calling for an appointment please identify yourself as a Wells College student and explain the reason for the visit. If you are extremely sick, please express urgency when scheduling your appointment. The Medical Center will try their best to work around your class schedules, but understand that there may be times when we have no other time available than during a class time.

If you are unable to keep your appointment PLEASE call the office and cancel! Failure to cancel in advance may result in a no-show fee.

Also, please remember to bring your student ID and your health insurance information to your appointment!

It is the policy of the Community Medical Center to review submitted Health Reports for compliance with NYSDOH, Public Health Law 125, as it pertains to post-secondary institutions. The report includes a Health History, an Authorization Form (consent to provide medical services to anyone under 18 years old must have parent or guardian signature), home physician information, Immunization Record, the Meningococcal Vaccine Information Sheet (to be signed by parent or adult student) and a Physical Examination Form. All students received these forms in the Enrollment Handbook.

If these forms are not received it could result in a students dismissal from the College - including all sports or other campus activities and housing. NYS resident students must comply with proof of immunization or exemption within 30 days, or 45 days for out-of-state or foreign resident students. Wells College is obligated to dismiss non-compliant students under state law. Proof of immunization or exemption will be required for readmission to Wells College.

Wells College provides student supplemental coverage that allows access to the Community Medical Center and our confidential counseling services. You will not be responsible for a co-pay or fee when using these services for routine visits and counseling.  Should you need care beyond the scope of the Medical Center, your compliant insurance plan will be utilized as the primary insurer.

KINNEY PRESCRIPTION DELIVERY

Once a week the Kinney Drug Store Pharmacy in Moravia delivers prescriptions to the Community Medical Center. In order to fill a prescription you must send your prescription or have your physician send your prescription to Kinney's. After sending your prescription you must call the pharmacy to give them your insurance information and to find out if you have a co-pay and how that should be paid. If there is a cost associated with the prescription it must be at the Community Medical Center in time for delivery. If it is not, then your prescription will not be delivered.
