Wells College Office of Campus Safety

The Mission of the Wells College Office of Campus Safety is to support the overall educational mission of Wells College by providing a safe, friendly and welcoming environment for students, visitors, faculty and staff to live, learn, work, and play.

Located in the Bellinzoni Building, adjacent to Main Building, The Office of Campus Safety is staffed by a team of professionals whose primary function is to work with the Wells community to provide for the security and safety at both on-campus and  off-campus locations. Campus Safety strives to achieve a balance between enforcement, education, and community expectations in our daily interactions with students, staff, and visitors to Wells College.

Our Campus Safety Officers are N.Y.S. Licensed Security Guards and have additional training in emergency procedures, First Aid, CPR, AED, and a wide variety of law enforcement and crisis intervention skills. Campus Safety Officers conduct foot and vehicular patrols of campus properties and residence halls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The Office of Campus Safety works to develop a strong rapport with the community through partnerships with students, staff, faculty, and various campus organizations to balance enforcement with community service. The Department also provides community-oriented policing initiatives with the goal of enhancing communication and interaction within the Wells Community.

HEOA Missing Person Information

Pursuant ot the Higher Education opportunity Act (HEOA), at the beginning of each academic year, students age 18 and over or emancipated minors who will be living in on-campus housing will be given the opportunity to designate an individual or individuals to be contacted by the College no more than 24 hours after the time that the student is determined to be missing in accordance with procedures set forth in this Order. A designation will remain in effect until changed or revoked by the student.

The form used to designate emergency contacts, which may be completed on-line and e-mailed directly to Campus Safety, is found below. You may also print this form out and turn in in at Check-In in August.

Campus Safety understands that not everyone wants to report incidents in person.  It is important that the college is aware of incidents that occur in our community.  If you do not wish to speak with someone to report an incident then please use one of the forms below to report an incident.

Please understand that under certain circumstances, the College may have an obligation to act upon the information you provide even if you request that the College take no action beyond recording the incident. For example, the College will need to investigate situations that may threaten the safety or anyone mentioned in this form or the Wells College community. Alternatively, please understand that if you do not complete the form fully (or if you request anonymity), the College may be limited in its ability to take action, even if you would like the College to do so.

If you need IMMEDIATE ASSISTANCE call Campus Safety directly at 315-364-3229 or 911. This form generates a report that is normally reviewed during business hours and should not be used if you need an immediate response.

To report an incident (non-emergency/immediate) on-line, please visit our Campus Safety web page for reporting options.

All faculty, staff and student vehicles must be registered with the Office of Campus Safety, which will issue a parking permit that serves as a means of identifying cars that have been properly registered. Parking permits must be current and must be attached on driver’s side rear window. Vehicles without parking stickers or temporary permits are not permitted on campus.

A parking permit does not guarantee the holder a parking space, but only the opportunity to park within the specified area or areas. Parking permits are only valid for the academic year indicated on the permit; a new parking permit must be purchased each year. Current pricing for the 2024-2025 year is $40/year for residential students. Permits are valid for the full academic year.

Purchase a Vehicle Registration Permit

Employees and commuter students (including Fairlane residents) are provided a parking permit and must visit Campus Safety to register your vehicle.

More information on parking regulations, including potential fines, can be found in our Student Handbook.
